FURTHER INFORMATIONRegarding the substantive law of arbitration in commercial matters, two instruments are noteworthy:The United Nations Commission for International Trade Law has proposed a Model Law to serve as a reference for the drafting or revision of national legislation on arbitration. There is a 1966 Council of Europe Convention providing a Uniform Law on Arbitration. The International Chamber of Commerce operates the International Court of Arbitration in Paris (www.iccwbo.org/court). The Court organizes and supervises arbitration and helps to resolve problems during the procedure. The Deutsche Institution für Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit e.V. (DIS) (German Institution of Arbitration) (www.dis-arb.de) promotes arbitration and provides a uniform service for all arbitration-related matters across Germany. The Hamburg Chamber of Commerce (www.hk24.de) looks back on a long tradition and expertise in arbitration and offers rules and decisions of arbitration courts. The Prague-based Arbitration Court the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic and Agricultural Chamber of the Czech Republic (the “Czech Arbitration Court”) is a non-profit organization founded in 1949 (www.arbcourt.cz). On 12 April 2005, the Czech Arbitration Court was assigned with the provision of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) for .eu domain name disputes by EURid. The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in Den Haag (www.pca-cpa.org) is an intergovernmental organization facilitating arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution between states. |
